Turkey strongly condemns the abhorrent terror attack that took place yesterday (6 November 2007) in Baghlan province of brotherly Afghanistan. According to initial data, the attack caused many casualties, including members of Afghan National Parliament. Turkey always underlines the vital importance of effective international cooperation in the fight against terrorism, which She considers as a crime against humanity, regardless of its sources and pretexts.

In this context, we would like to once again underline that Turkey, who adamantly continues her contributions to the maintenance of security and stability in Afghanistan will carry on its traditional solidarity and cooperation with the friendly and brotherly Afghan Government and people.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the brotherly people, the National Assembly and the Government of Afghanistan, and wish speedy recovery to those who were wounded.
